The Club has a flourishing
JUNIOR SECTION
There is a separate class for juniors:
Ages from 8 up to 12 running from 6.30 - 7.45p.m.
["Rising 8's" are admitted at the discretion of the coach, taking into account the relative maturity of the applicant]
Tasters for this group are FREE, except when a special session is held.
Juniors start with foil but, like senior members of the club are able to try sabre & epée after their initial trainng period.

Ages from 13+ currently running from 7.30p.m., concurrently with the seniors

Cost £5.50 per session for 16's and under
Coaches involved with the class are British Fencing registered and have all the necessary DBS checks, Safeguarding and First Aid certification in addition to high level coaching qualifications.
The classes will be run using both GO/Fence and "real" metal equipment

You are required to join the National Governing Body, British Fencing, before you start fencing. This is FREE for the first 90 days, so no additional cost is involved.
See the British Fencing website and select "Starter" from the membership options given Note: in order to get maximum benefit from the free membership period, you should only enrol your child into BF just before starting fencing.
The cost of the course does not include BF membership nor does club membership.
Unlike the senior group, it is usually possible join at any time, as long as there are places.

Please note: After a large influx in September '23, this group is nearing capacity. Unless we can find a way to start a new group at different time, there may shortly be a waiting list.

Although the classes only run on Thursdays at present further classes may be opened on other days/times, depending on demand & coach/facility available.

Stourbridge Fencing Club has been working towards Swordmark status, (see Club info page for more details) and had completed most of the steps. The requirements for this seems to have been largely superseded by other legal, NGB & Sport England requirements, so the process has been shelved. The club remains committed to its principles, as shown in our policy documents.
