A 3 weapon club (foil, sabre & epée), the club meets on Thursdays. See below for venue details and the "How to join" page for times of the various groups.
As you will see from our policy documents, we aim to be an inclusive club.
However, we must point out that our venue, accessed by a minimum of 5 steps is not wheelchair accessible nor do we have accessible toilet facilities. changing and toilet facilities. Female ones are on the same level as the gymn but have no specific accessible facilities. Male ones are upstairs. So, although we are happy to welcome anyone, unless you able to negotiate your own access, it would be impossible to fence.
Who can join the club:
With the proviso mentioned above, anyone; young or old, fit or unfit.
Fencing is a great way to GET fit.
Click on "how to join" for details of ages covered.
How to join the club:
Those who are fencers may come along immediately either as visitors or to join - as long as they have up-to-date national governing body membership.
Those who have fenced in the past but have no membership MUST arrange NGB membership first. If you are a beginner or want to give fencing a try pleasae the see beginners page or click the link below.

Directions into venue:
Here are directions to the club
Pedmore High School (formerly Pedmore Technology College, and earlier, The Grange School) is on Grange Lane, the A4036 Hagley to Dudley road, directly opposite the junction with Grange Road. At the A491, The latter is sign posted for Stourbridge Junction Station and Lye.
1. Travelling North on the A491 Hagley Road in the direction of Stourbridge/Wolverhampton from M5 and/or the A456 Birmingham-Kidderminster road, at the roundabout just beyond the Foley Arms Pub (on right) turn on to the A4036 Ham Lane, taking the 3rd exit (in essence a right fork), signposted forDUDLEY & MERRY HILL. Ham Lane becomes Grange Lane at the next roundabout. The school is about 150 yds further, on the RIGHT, the entrance being beyond the pelican crossing.
2. Travelling South, from Dudley towards Hagley & M5, the School is just under 3/4 mile after the double set of traffic lights at LYE Cross. After passing a Jaguar and a Citroën Garage on the right, the road goes uphill and bends to the left, becoming a dual carriageway for a short distance. The school entrance is on the LEFT, as the road straightens and flattens, right opposite te entrnace to Grange Road, and is slightly hidden by a privet hedge.
3. Approaching from the West from Oldswinford on the B4186: at the traffic lights at the junction with A491 Hagley Road go straight on along B4186 sign posted Stourbridge Junction Station, which is Glasshouse Hill and becomes Brook Road. Immediately after passing under the railway bridge, at the roundabout, take the first exit, Grange Road, signposted Lye, Dudley and then ignore the immediate left turn. At the T junction at the top with Grange Lane keep well to the right and go straight across the junction into the school grounds [STOP FIRST!!! - and watch out for vehicles from the left cutting the corner!]. If you prefer to avoid having to go straight acrosss this junction, you can take the right fork at the roundabout, proceed up the hill to another roundabout . Take the 2nd left. The school is then on the right. (See 1 above.)
4. From the Kingswinford/Wolverhampton direction following the A491 southwards turn LEFT at Oldswinford Cross and follow the previous directions, from the WEST. (See 3 above.)
The nearest stations are: LYEand Stourbridge Junction. Both are on the same line (Birmingham, Kidderminster, Worcester) and therefore the latter is better.
LYE station is some 200 yds north of Lye Cross and some 1400 yds from the school. Turn left out of the station drive and keep straight on to the school.
Stourbridge Junction station is at the foot of Grange Road, some 500 yds from the school.
Access to the venue
If approaching by car The school site has two entrances, the upper one marked with "no entry" signs. On entering, enter the grounds by the lower entrance.
You are faced with a low brick wall behind which is a grassy mound with a single tree and an independent single storey red brick building.
To the right of this are 8ft galvanised steelgates and then the main school buildings. To the left you will see what appears at first just to be a similar fence. Keep to the left of the grass, tree, etc. and a large gate will be seen. Drive through it (if open!!) and follow the drive down the left side of the school buildings, until reaching a sort of cross roads, with a large gate, leading to a housing estate, on your left. Turn RIGHT and, go through to the playground area beyond and park. The gym is on you right as you go along the narrow drive, past the caretaker's house, and as you turn into the playground. At the left hand end of the gym is a large white PVCu door. Inside, ladieschanging is on the left (Men's upstairs) and on the right the gym.
Note that, in wet conditions, our relations with the caretaking staff and our own safety are improved, if, once inside the building, footwear that is going into the gym is thoroughly wiped on the mats before entering the gym. Direct access to the Games Hall can be made by ignoring the gym entrance and instead turning left , follow the wall round to its end and turn RIGHT round the corner of the building (more steps to your left). Facing you is a door, which leads into a lobby area with the Games Hall in front of you. From here entrance to the Men's changing room is up the first flight of stairs, left and up again. The ladies changing is through the door on the right and then right again.
For security reasons, please do NOT park at the front of the school unless requested to do so. Please leave one car space nearest to the steps at the top of the parking area for the coach with the kit! We find that the most efficient use of the space is if everyone parks facing up/down the slope of the playground (E-W if you look at the access plan). Since members of the swimming club were prevented from using the front entrance, we have yet to persuade all them of the truth of this fact! So there may be cars parked the other way round.
If you are approaching on foot, access is now also usually via this route. The doors at the front of the school are now locked during the evening.
